PKR Terminator tournaments

May 24, 2009 | Published in: Poker room news

pkr-terminator-tournementsPersonally I like the Terminator tournements at PKR but almost every time I play one there are at least 5 people asking how it works. So i thought it was time to write a post about these PKR tournements.

What are terminator tournaments?
With a portion of the prize pool going to a bounty on every player’s head, Terminator tournaments are all about taking the other player down. A portion of the prize pool goes on to every player’s head. If you take that player out of the tournament, their bounty is yours. The value of each player’s bounty is displayed on the table above their username. The more bounties you claim, the higher your bounty gets too – so you become a more attractive target.

Full information on the set up of each Terminator tournament can be found in the in the ‘bounty info’ tab for the tournament. There you’ll see information including the number of heads each player has eliminated, the total prize amount claimed from bounties and each player’s existing bounty value.

Full or half buy-in on your head
There are 2 types of terminator tournements at PKR: one where 100% of your buy-in is on your head and one where it’s 50% and the other 50% goes to a prize pool.

You can play the normal Terminator tournements (with the 50%/50% deal mentioned above), the headsup tournements (Terminator Two, 100% buy-in on your head) or the Terminator Xtreme (Sit & go, 10 players and the 50%/50% deal).

Win a Pokerstars Porsche with the May turbo takedown!

May 21, 2009 | Published in: Poker room news

pokerstars-porsche-turbo-takedown The May edition of the $1 Million PokerStars Turbo Takedown is looming large on the horizon, and as this will be the first anniversary of the $1 Million guarantee tournament, we’re ramping up the stakes.

For the month of May only, the Turbo Takedown retains its $1 Million prize pool* but Pokerstars is reducing the buy-in from 5,000 Frequent Player Points (FPP) to 2,000 FPPs! That’s not all though. The winner will receive a little something extra - a brand new Porsche Cayman S!

Having already awarded 9 Porsches to our players, the PokerStars Turbo Takedown is the perfect route to reward our 10th Porsche! And with at least one in every three players getting paid, this is a tournament you definitely do not want to miss.

May Turbo Takedown Summary:
- Buy-in reduced to 2,000 FPP (originally 5,000 FPP)
- Cap increased to 30,000 players - meaning 10,000 players will receive a share of the $1 million prize pool
- First prize will include cash and the 10th Porsche PokerStars have awarded

The 1st place finisher will receive a Porsche Cayman S and cash, with a combined value of approximately $100,000! If you don’t want to use that many FPPs to enter the tournament, you could win your seat in the Turbo Takedown through one of the regular satellites. Starting from as little as 8 FPP, these qualifiers can be found under the Tourney > Satellite > FPP tab or the Sit & Go > Satellite > FPP tab in your PokerStars lobby, giving you the chance to potentially turn 8 FPPs in to a Porsche!

The $1 Million PokerStars Turbo Takedown takes place on the last Sunday of every month at 14:30 ET (this month on May 31st)and is located under the Tourney > Special tab in your PokerStars lobby.

For a tournament with no cash buy-in and a guaranteed prize pool of $1 Million and a Porsche, places will fill up fast. Register for your seat today!

So don’t wait: get yourself an account at Pokerstars!

P.S. let us know when you win that amazing vehicle.. ;)
